BBUILT ADVISORY

Case study · Adelaide law firm

A recognised firm the search results kept overlooking.

The business

A criminal defence firm in the Adelaide CBD. Decades of experience, more than twenty thousand cases, and a team recognised by Doyle’s Guide as one of the leading criminal practices in South Australia, with three of its lawyers named individually. The standing inside the legal world was strong. Online, the firm was being passed over for practices with a fraction of the reputation.

What we found

When people searched for a criminal lawyer in Adelaide, the firm barely showed up. For the three biggest search terms in the market it sat last on page one, sixth, and sixth. For a high-value term like traffic offence lawyer, where a single click can be worth up to fifteen dollars to advertisers, the firm did not appear in the first five pages at all. The website was not telling Google what the firm did, so whole areas of work were invisible. And the firm held a 4.9 rating across 29 Google reviews, one of the best in the Adelaide market, that appeared nowhere on its own website.

The experience was never the problem. The problem was that a client searching late at night, deciding who to call in the morning, could not see any of it.

What we did

We started with what the firm already had. We mapped the practice areas that mattered and set the page titles up so Google could finally tell each one was about criminal law in Adelaide, not just an offence type. We pointed out where the firm’s real credentials, the Doyle’s recognition and the decades of experience, were sitting on the site but buried instead of leading. We set a simple way to gather reviews in place, so the firm’s reputation could show up where people actually look. Then we looked past the marketing at how the practice ran day to day, and talked through the software it used, with clear advice on what to weigh up before making a change.

Where it is heading

The advice is already showing up in the numbers. They have brought in five new reviews in the past month, lifting the profile to a perfect 5.0 across 33. That rating is one of the strongest trust signals the firm has, and the plan now puts it in front of the people actually searching, instead of leaving it hidden on a profile they never reach. The page titles, the credentials and the content all point the same way for the first time. None of it changed what the firm does, or the quality of its work. It changed how many of the right people get to see it.

“The reputation was already there. It just needed to be visible to the person deciding who to call.”
